Overview

Create a persona that reflects a specific group of users that share a common perspective, needs and or goals in a given set of situations and circumstance. They may be defined by more than one role - for example a product manager who is also a dad and a little league coach.

By building holistic, multi-dimensional personas, you can create larger aperture understanding of the user and the context of how your product or service fits into their lives.

Creating a new persona

The process of creating a persona is quite simple and quick.

Step 1. Click on the floating plus button to create a new persona.

Step 2. Give the persona a name and write out their occupation.

Step 3. Select a photo to humanize the group of users it represents.

Step 4. Write a memorable quote that represents something this group of users often say.

That’s all it takes to create a persona, which almost operates like a “project”. Typically you’ll only ever need a handful of personas you’ll want to keep up-to-date on a regular basis.

Editing and deleting a persona

To edit or update a persona simply click on the edit button next to the name of the persona. Now you’ll be in the persona editor from where you can update the persona’s name, occupation, quote and image.

If you want to delete a persona, go to the top right corner of the screen, click on the icon button with the three menu dots to reveal a dropdown to delete the persona. You’ll be asked to confirm this step before proceeding because it is permanent and cannot be undone. When you delete a persona, all the stories and roles contained will also be deleted.
